The Young Danish String Quartet

About this artist

The original name of The Danish String Quartet. Danish violinists Frederik Øland and Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen, violist Asbjørn Nørgaard and cellist Carl-Oskar Østerlind met as children at a music summer camp where they played both soccer and music together. Encouraged by Tim Frederiksen, professor at Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium, they started playing seriously together in 2001 and enrolled at the school as music students. In 2008 they released their first recordings. Same year, Østerlind was replaced by Norwegian cellist Fredrik Sjølin. They subsequently dropped "Young" from their name.
