Η ελληνική Hip Hop σκηνή έχει γνωρίσει αλματώδη ανάπτυξη την τελευταία δεκαετία. Μουσικό είδος – ή τρόπος ζωής, όπως πολλοί θιασώτες του υποστηρίζουν – με δισκογραφική παρουσία στη χώρα που ξεπερνά τα 20 χρόνια, προβολή στα media, αλλά και σταθερούς «υπόγειους» πυρήνες. Πλήθος πια οι ενεργοί ασκούμενοι της εν λόγω φόρμας. Κι αν όχι όλοι, οι περισσότεροι θα σας πουν ότι ξέρουν – έστω ποιος είναι – ο Sifu VERSUS...

Περίεργη προσωπικότητα, κατά δήλωσή του, ο Sifu VERSUS είναι από τους ανθρώπους που μετείχαν ενεργά στη σύσταση του Hip Hop πυρήνα της Θεσσαλονίκης. Παλαίμαχος graffiti writer, «γερόλυκος» στα μικρόφωνα – παρά το σχετικά νεαρό ακόμα της ηλικίας – και, όπως ο ίδιος λέει, beatmaker κατ’ ανάγκη. Όπως και να ‘χει, γεγονός είναι πως όποιος έχει ασχοληθεί με τα τεκταινόμενα της Hip Hop κουλτούρας στη
χώρα τα τελευταία 15 χρόνια, λίγο έως πολύ, έχει συναντήσει κάπου το όνομα Sifu VERSUS. Συμμετοχές σε δουλειές άκρως mainstream, αλλά και ανεξάρτητων «συναδέλφων» - εντός κι εκτός Ελλάδας, ζωντανές εμφανίσεις σε πέντε χώρες, δύο προσωπικές δουλειές, το παράπλευρο εγχείρημα της Φιλικής Εταιρείας, executive σε κυκλοφορίες, σκηνοθέτης, editor, DOP... Ναι, όντως περίεργη προσωπικότητα…

The Greek Hip Hop scene has experienced a huge leap upwards during the past decade. A music form - or a way of life, as many exponents proclaim - with presence in the local record market that goes over 20 years now, mass media references, as well as stable underground cores. There are plenty of active practitioners of the artform these days. If not all, most will tell you that they know Sifu VERSUS...

Owner of a strange personality, as the man himself states, Sifu VERSUS is one of the people that played an active part in the formation of the Hip Hop core in Thessaloniki. Veteran graffiti writer, an old lone-wolf on the mics - despite of his relatively young age - and, as he says, a beatmaker out of need. No matter what, the fact is that anyone that has dwelled in what goes on, when it comes to Hip Hop in Greece, these past 15 years, will have come accross Sifu’s name. Guest appearances in huge mainstream hits, as well as in independent releases - in and out of Greece, live performances in five countries, two solo effort, the Friendly Society side project, executive producer in albums, director, editor, DOP... Yes, strange personality indeed...
