MY VIBE Miami is one of the greatest places on earth to drown
your sorrows. With the latest batch of South Florida rappers
making music to commemorate their city’s illustrious drug cartel,
it’s nice to know some artists are focusing on the type of pleasure
found only in the M.I.A. One artist in particular, D.E.S.L.O.C.
P.I.C.C.A.L.O. recently created his own genre called stick music
that captures the insatiable party vibe of his city by the sand. With
his infectious first single “Stick & Roll” D.E.S.L.O.C. is at the
forefront of a fun fueled dance craze that has takenrap fans away
from the negativity that plagues popular hip-hop music.“We go
through pain everyday so why should I rap about it?” asks
P.I.C.C.A.L.O.“I’d rather make some music that people can use
against the pain.” With his SRC/Universal debut album, Can’t Stop
My Vibe, D.E.S.L.O.C. is gearing up to change the direction of music
in the 305. “Every song you hear coming from Miami right now is
a product of me,” says the 28 year-old rapper. “As soon as I
dropped “Stick & Roll” I got everybody following my lead.”
“Stick & Roll” first broke last year during Memorial Day at a
Miami after hours spot. The club, which was packed with
hard-partying vacationers and locals,
immediately took to the song’s free
flowing vibe. Soon, word began to
spread throughout the tight knit
Floridian music scene. While
attending a party at SRC
founder Steve Rifkind’s Palm
Beach, FL house, platinum
production duo Cool & Dre
started telling Rifkind about
D.E.S.L.O.C.’s heavy influence
on the local rap game. After
hearing the song and seeing his own party guests overwhelming
reaction Rifkind decided to sign D.E.S.L.O.C. to SRC in July of 2007
Although he may be the most recent addition to the SRC roster,
