Sweden’s Lova rose to national acclaim on the back of her hooky 2018 single “You Me and the Silence” and subsequent EP, Scripted Reality. Her songwriting is characterized by quirky pop rhythms, strong melodies, and socially conscious messages.
Based in Stockholm, Lova began singing and writing music at the age of seven and by her early teens was posting original songs on YouTube. She attended music school and took part in a handful of music competitions, releasing several songs under her full name, Lova Alvilde, via Universal Music’s Spinnup imprint in 2015. Reappearing in 2018, billed simply as Lova, her debut single, “You Me and the Silence,” proved to be a breakout hit, earning her widespread national acclaim. Universal released her debut EP, Scripted Reality, later that year. Lova returned in early 2019 with “My Name Isn’t,” a catchy and thought-provoking single with a strong female-empowerment theme. It was featured a few months later on her second EP, A Gentleman’s Guide. ~ Timothy Monger
