About this artist

Depending on who's talking, Eugenius' pristine, hyper-melodic songs are either brilliant and woefully underappreciated, or droll and annoyingly ordinary. Some would fault Pavement for championing challenging bits of sunny melody delivered with an Indie Rock smirk -- luckily, there are twenty-plus Pink Floyd albums ready to give degree-holding rock scholars their fist-pumping dollars worth. Consequently, that leaves plenty of room for people like Eugene Kelly, the guiding inspiration behind Eugenius' subtly dry, Benny Hill-meets-Teenage Fanclub songs. So, even if Eugenius weren't the champions of sonic sportsmanship, they offer some of the more compelling testimony that it's no crime to pen simple, easy-going songs that never meant to change the world.
