Willajay

Willajay is an alternative pop music project based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Carried by the lyrical musings of Willa Edwards, Willajay combines classic sounds with contemporary production to make for an exciting sonic exploration through disco, rock, metal, hip-hop, folk, and musical theatre influences. Joined by drummer Kendall Jones, guitarist Ezra Sena, and bassist Chris Alires, Willajay is a local favorite among Albuquerque's live bands. Willajay's music evokes the vulnerability of being a young woman artist in the modern day. Willa's lyrics, at times gentle and at other times in-your-face, invite the listener to imagine a world where women are empowered to thrive despite their struggles. Willajay’s music most often explores themes of grief and how that grief can be reclaimed in order to rediscover one’s own identity.

Willajay has opened for national acts such as Sir Chloe and Hannah Wicklund and has been featured on HivemindTV’s Hot Underground playlist.
