The deep, rolling breaks and atmospheric liquid pads of Whiney productions quickly found a place for themselves on label Med School, the perfect home for his exquisitely produced drum’n’bass as witnessed on his 2017 debut Talisman. Born and raised in Coventry, U.K., Will Hine grew up performing in choirs and orchestras while studying piano and violin, but found his calling after hearing the work of Pendulum for the first time. Devoting his time to music production, he quickly established himself with the release of his liquid drum’n’bass debut single, 2012′s Sweetest Sin EP. A collaborative work with Keeno, the emotive sound of their work quickly caught the ear of Hospital Records off-shoot, Med School. After a handful of tracks appearing on the label’s compilation series, Hine delivered his debut EP for the label, 2016′s Stranger Tides. The darker-sounding EP signaled the approach he would take with his full-length debut, 2017′s Talisman — full of rolling breaks, tough dancefloor cuts, and emotive half-step pieces. The following year Hine delivered his sophomore album, Waystone, for the label. The album found him bringing in elements of grime, hip-hop, and trip hop for the first time, while working with the likes of Keeno, Sense MC, Hugh Hardie, Kwam, and more. ~ Rich Wilson
