About this artist

Velocity Girl were an up-tempo, female-fronted, Indie Rock band who named themselves after an obscure Primal Scream song. Their spastic and melodic pop songs were more sugary than anything Willy Wonka could ever fathom, complete with engaging vocal harmonies that gave a respectful nod to Brian Wilson. Velocity Girl were dually noted by the British and American press as the backlash to Grunge (they were the first band signed to Sub Pop after the flannel scene subsided) as well as America's answer to British Indie Rock. For a while, it seemed like Velocity Girl's subtly overdriven wall of sound was the only sonic bridge between Anglophiles and the U.S. Indie scene.
