Trolls

About this artist

Pueblo, Colorado garage outfit the Trolls, were originally comprised of singer/guitarist Richard Gonzales, organist Fred Brescher, and drummer Phil Head, and later augmented by bassist Monty Baker and lead guitarist Doug Rymerson. According to the Colorado Music Page at www.mountainmusic.net, in 1965 the group traveled to Amarillo, Texas to record with producer Ray Ruff, cutting the Brescher originals “That’s the Way My Love Is” and “Into My Arms” (issued as a single on the Ruff label), as well as close to an album’s worth of additional material — sadly, the masters were lost when Ruff’s studio burned to the ground in 1968. The Trolls next traveled to Clovis, New Mexico in early 1966, to record with the legendary producer Norman Petty, cutting the single “Stupid Girl.” A subsequent studio session never saw the light of day, and when Baker joined the Colorado Springs psychedelic band the New World Blues Dictionary in late 1966, the remaining Trolls soon disbanded. ~ Jason Ankeny
