Thandi Phoenix is a singer and songwriter from Sydney, Australia who lends a soulful vocal delivery to emotive dance music. She came to the attention of many for the first time when she was featured on Ta-ku’s 2013 album, Songs to Break Up To, under her full name, Thandiwe Phoenix. As Thandi Phoenix, she released her debut single, the dramatic club ballad “Come Around,” in mid-2015 and followed it with the like-minded “Tell Me Where All the Lovers Have Gone” in 2016. The latter was co-produced by the singer, the Mac Brothers, and U.K. producer Dushi. Phoenix soon accepted an invitation to tour in support of Rudimental and Jess Glynne. As word of her talents spread, she also opened Australian tour dates for artists including Jhené Aiko, Tinashe, and Tinie Tempah, and she performed at the Sydney Opera House alongside Ta-ku and a string quartet. Her “Standing Too Close” single followed in mid-2017, and the Rudimental-produced “My Way” arrived in March 2018. ~ Marcy Donelson
