Snooze

Under the guise of Snooze, France-based Dominique Dalcan conjures up mystic moods on his abstract beat excursions. Leaden breakbeats step through masses of foggy synths and exotic melodies like spiderwebs, underscored by the hiss and crackle of old vinyl. Think DJ Shadow's cinematic Mo' Wax projects, Nitin Sawhney's world-weary release Beyond Skin and David Holmes' elusive tune "Gone." Shrouded in gray-hued film noir-ish textures, Snooze's visual atmospheres drift aimlessly between the styles of Trip-Hop and Artcore, like an army deserter lost in a desert without a compass.
