Shaq Rayes

Shaq Rayes is a mixed-genre singer, songwriter, musician, and producer hailing from the melting pot city of Manchester. Growing up, Rayes' parents were both club DJs during the 90s with his mother also enjoying a lengthy career in Latin dance. It’s no surprise that he has an ear for trending sounds, catchy melodies, and smooth beats that get people moving their feet. Coming up in the city’s multi-cultural music scene, Shaq is inspired by fusions of genres such as NeoSoul and Alt R&B, as well as Afro and Latin beats, all tied together under an urban pop tone. Rayes' music is sonically diverse yet easy on the ear with lyrics that explore concepts such as the fantasies of love, the growing pains of adulthood, the fragility of life, and identity.

Shaq Rayes is an independent artist. His solo debut singles ‘Money’ and ‘Remedy’ have since collectively seen over 900 million views from TikTok users implementing the songs in their videos and commercials. Currently, Rayes composes for some of K-Pop’s biggest stars such as EXO, NCT and Monsta X, working with South Korean producers, writers, artists, and publishers, steadily building himself a name as a composer in the South Korean music scene.
