Sena (Srebrenka) Jurinac (born 24th of October 1921 in Travnik, Bosnia – died 22nd of November 2011 in Hainhofen, Germany) is an operatic soprano. Mrs Jurinac was one of the greatest Austro-Croatian opera divas, born by an Austrian mother and Croatian father. She gained the name Sena while singing in Austria since the shorter version of her name was easier to pronounce. She was a favourit from conductors as Böhm, Krips, Mitropoulos, Knappertbush, Kleiber, Solti, Klemperer, Furtwängler to Herbert von Karajan, who adored her as an artist. One of her greatest roles is that of Octavian in the Strauss opera Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose).
