About this artist

A leading electro-pop artist in her native Finland, Sanni reached the Top Ten with her 2013 debut album, Sotke Mut. Sporting a memorably bright, childlike voice, she followed it up with a string of consecutive number ones, including a 2016 eponymous album that featured the chart-topping singles “Että Mitähän Vittua” and “Oo Se Kun Oot.” Her fourth long-player, 2019′s Trippi, delivered another pair of number one singles in “Pornoo” and “Jacuzzi.” While maintaining a regular presence in the Top Five, she went to the very top of the Finnish singles chart again in 2021 with the funk-injected dance track “Pettäjä.”
Born Sanni Mari Elina Kurkisuo in Lohja, Finland in 1993, Sanni, whose mother had a background in singing, took an interest in music at a young age. As a teenager, she co-starred in 2012′s Miss Farkku-Suomi, a film set in 1977 about the influence of punk music in a small town in Finland. Warner Music Finland issued her debut album, Sotke Mut, in 2013. It was a hit, reaching number nine on Finland’s album chart on its way to platinum sales, with debut single “Prinsessoja ja Astronautteja” landing in the Top Three. Her popularity only grew with her second full-length, 2015′s LELU. Boosted by the Top Three ballad “2080-Luvulla,” it went all the way to number one. That year, she topped the singles chart with a featured spot on Villegalle’s “Lähtisitkö,” and was also featured on the Robin song “Miten Eskimot Suutelee?” from his duets album Yhdessä. In addition, Sanni took part in the fourth season of the music reality show Vain Elämää before the end of the year.
In 2016, the album SANNI returned the singer to number one. It featured her first number one single of her own, “Että Mitähän Vittua,” as well as second number one “Oo Se Kun Oot” featuring rapper Paperi T. Still with Warner Music Finland, she released her fourth album, Trippi, in 2019. With assists from the Top Three singles “Hei Kevät” and “Pommi (Pampampam),” it again took her to number one on Finland’s album chart. Another chart-topping single, “Pettäjä,” followed in 2021. ~ Marcy Donelson
