Hailing from Rhode Island, Sage Francis is one of the underground's fastest rising (and most hated on) super-lyricists. He's taken top prize at several prestigious rap battles and poetry slam showdowns, and has been featured on commercials for the X-Games. His dramatic flow, diverse subject matter, and wordy rhymes have won him adoration amongst the so-called backpacker, as have his collaborations with the like-minded heads at Anticon. Sage's solo endeavors include Still Sick, Sick of Waiting Tables, and Personal Journals. In 2005, he issued his first major work, A Healthy Distrust, and launched an independent label, Strange Famous. Further recordings such as 2007's Human the Death Dance and 2010's Li(f)e established him as one of hip-hop's most idiosyncratic cult artists.
