Rudolf Lutz (*1951) is lecturer in keyboard improvisation, continuo and music theory at the , the University of Early Music, Basle, the Academy for Music Teachers and Church Music, Lucerne and the School of Music and Movement in Zurich. At the , a specialist school for historical performance practice, he and three colleagues instruct around 30 students in the keyboard instrument department.
Rudolf Lutz was appointed artistic director of the J. S. Bach Foundation of St. Gallen in 2006. In view of the foundation’s mission to perform Bach’s complete vocal works, Rudolf Lutz established the Orchestra and Choir of the J. S. Bach Foundation, as well as a permanent group of soloists and acts as conductor. From 1986 to 2010, he was the head of the .
His musical career started by education in Winterthur, Zurich and Vienna. Today, he is also active as organist of St. Lawrence church in St. Gallen, in broadcasts for and , as lecturer in interpretation seminars, jazz performances and as Dulcimer player in Appenzell-based string ensemble "Alpenglühn".
