Ruby Jay was born on December 3, 2004 in California, USA. As a toddler, she used to emulate the dance steps of famous celebrities after observing them on TV. After realizing that her daughter had a natural flair for dancing and singing, her mother encouraged her to continue doing what she loved the most. Ruby became accustomed to performing arts when she was just two!
By the time she was five years old, she had started performing in musical theatre. Her talent and the support that she received from her parents made her a local celebrity. She also used musical theatre as a tool to improve her acting skills. She surprised everyone by playing a challenging role in her very first musical theatre.
Ruby started auditioning for various other musicals at the age of 10. Her talent and her reputation helped her earn several roles. She eventually bagged many TV roles, though most of them were uncredited.
She became hugely popular with her YouTube channel. As she always wanted to become a singer, she started uploading cover versions of her favourite songs on the social media platform. Thus began her journey as a social media star.
In March 2015, Ruby Jay created her YouTube channel. The first video that she posted was titled ‘I Know Things Now - Into the Woods,’ which was a cover version of her own stage performance. Her video got the attention that it deserved and her channel was off to a great start.
After posting her first video, she did not upload anything on her channel for about a year. But when her fans requested her to post more videos, and after seeing other YouTubers making it big, she revived her channel. In March 2016, she uploaded another video titled ‘Defying Gravity - Wicked.’
As she loved singing, she continued uploading cover versions of popular songs which earned her more number of viewers. This led to a hike in the number of her subscribers and within a year, she had accumulated more than 40,000 subscribers.
Though her channel was initially packed with cover versions of famous songs, she gradually started uploading a variety of videos to keep her fans engaged and entertained. She also started collaborating with other popular YouTubers.
Ruby now wanted to give a push to her acting career as well. She went on to play the role of ‘Scavenger’ in a popular video game titled ‘The Shelter: A Survival Story.’ Currently she is focused on uploading videos at regular intervals, while auditioning for acting roles. She has already appeared on a couple of popular TV shows titled ‘Tangled: The Series,’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’
Ruby is also famous on other social media sites. Her Instagram account, which has more than 500,000 followers, is handled by her mother.
