Persian songwriter Rahmatollah Badiyi began to play the nei, a Persian flute, at the age of five. He continued to learn instruments through his youth, eventually entering the Teheran Conservatory at the age of 11 when he was ready to study music seriously. He graduated after five years and began to perform with orchestras for more than 23 years, as well as teach at the National Conservatory of Music in Tehran. He traveled the world with his music, eventually convincing him to move his family to Holland in 1979. He performed in Europe for 20 years, until finally he retired in 1999 from actively performing. ~ Bradley Torreano
