Ogi

Ogi is a Midwest-raised, West Coast-based singer/songwriter with a flair for self-possessed and progressive R&B. While her understated if lithe voice would sound natural over an acoustic jazz trio, all her material thus far has been either produced or co-produced by veteran rap and R&B producer No I.D. in mellow, detailed style. Ogi made her recorded debut in 2022 with a pair of singles leading to the Monologues EP, licensed to major-label Atlantic.
Originally from Wisconsin, Ogi Ifediora listened to a diverse assortment of music in her youth. She absorbed sacred and secular sounds from her parents’ native Nigeria, as well as reggae, contemporary gospel, and both vintage and current R&B. She learned viola, joined a jazz choir in high school, and then picked up piano and guitar. While studying law at Northwestern University, she was involved with an a cappella group and started producing music on her own. Clips of covers she posted to Instagram reached and resonated with producer No I.D. (Common, Jay-Z, Jhené Aiko). Upon completion of her studies, Ogi headed to Los Angeles to work with No I.D. on original material. She made her debut in February 2022 with “I Got It” and the next month released “Envy.” That May, Ogi issued the Monologues EP, featuring the previous singles and four new songs, produced almost exclusively by No I.D. ~ Andy Kellman
