NZCA LINES

Taking its name from the Peruvian geoglyphs, NZCA Lines is the crisp synth pop project of Michael Lovett. Formerly the bassist/backing vocalist of Your Twenties, for NZCA Lines Lovett drew inspiration from music as diverse as Stravinsky and Ciara. Loaf released the singles “Compass Points” and “Okinawa Channels” in 2011, with the full-length NZCA/Lines — which featured production work by labelmate Charlie Alex March and mixing by Ash Workman — arriving a year later. Lovett spent the next few years playing guitar and synths on Christine and the Queens’ debut album Chaleur Humaine and recording and playing live with Metronomy, and also completed a degree in illustration while working on new NZCA Lines music. The 2014 single “New Atmosphere” offered the first taste of Lovett’s second album. Featuring Charlotte Hatherley and Hot Chip’s Sarah Jones, the ambitious Infinite Summer was inspired by science fiction writers such as Arthur C. Clarke and Philip K. Dick as well as Daft Punk’s Interstella 5555 and arrived in early 2016. ~ Heather Phares
