NMIXX is a K-pop sextet who merge elements of teen pop, hip-hop, and rock while alternating swagger and sweetness. Assembled by SQU4D (JYP Entertainment), the girl group’s first single album, Ad Mare, saw release in early 2022 and shot to number one in South Korea. Entwurf followed later that year, and they finally issued their first EP, Expergo, in early 2023. A Midsummer NMIXX's Dream preceded the chart-topping 2024 EPs Fe3O4: Break and Fe3O4: Stick Out. Initially known as JYPn, NMIXX was formed in late 2021 by JYP Entertainment imprint SQU4D. Rappers Kyujin and Jiwoo, rapper/singer Jinni, and singers Haewon, Lily, BAE, and Sullyoon built anticipation for the group by releasing covers by individual members or sub-units. They debuted officially as NMIXX in February 2022 with lead single “O.O,” which was followed days later by the single album Ad Mare. The release topped the Korean album chart. They returned to number one just seven months later with the follow-up single album Entwurf. It additionally entered the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart at number 53. Closing the year, the group was reduced to a sextet after the departure of Jinni in December. In March 2023, NMIXX released their debut EP, Expergo, home to “Young, Dumb, Stupid” and “Love Me Like This,” their highest-charting Korean single to date. A Midsummer NMIXX's Dream appeared in July, containing “Roller Coaster,” “Party O’Clock,” and their respective instrumentals. The release was certified triple platinum. “Soñar (Breaker)” was issued as the first single from the group’s 2024 EP Fe3O4: Break. It topped the Korean charts, as did follow-up Fe3O4: Stick Out. ~ Marcy Donelson
