About this artist

Genre-hopping electronic project Neffex amassed legions of followers in the late 2010s by releasing a new song every week for 100 weeks. The material issued as part of this challenge mixed EDM, rap, bass music, and other genres, and resulted in viral hits like “Rumors” and “Fight Back.” After 2020′s more focused full-length album, New Beginnings, Neffex revived its prolific song-a-week approach in 2021 and maintained a consistently high output into the next year.
Initially a duo, Neffex began as a collaboration between vocalist/lyricist Bryce Savage and producer Cameron Wales. The two friends had played in a band together during high school, and reunited after completing college to form Neffex in 2014. Living in an apartment in Orange County, California, they developed a sound that merged elements of rap and electronic music. In 2017, they launched their 100 songs challenge, releasing a new single each week for 100 weeks. Among these were tracks like “Fight Back,” “Rumors,” “Best of Me,” and several others that quickly became viral hits. Part of their rise to fame was their strategy of allowing their music to be used for free by content creators, which meant Neffex songs were soundtracking multiple videos from high-profile social media personalities. In addition to having their songs regularly collect millions of streams, Neffex accumulated millions of followers across several social media platforms.
In October 2019, they released the six-song EP Q203, named after the apartment where they recorded their music. Their first proper full-length, New Beginnings, arrived in September 2020. The 16-song album featured cameo appearances from Jez Dior, ROZES, and MASN. In July 2021, the duo parted ways, with Wales going on to release a pair of solo EPs as Cam Wales, and Savage retaining the Neffex name as a vehicle for his own solo work. Not long afterward, Savage launched a second 100 songs campaign, which continued into 2022. ~ Fred Thomas
