About this artist

The smooth piano pop songs of Nashville-based singer and songwriter Natalie Taylor dwell on matters of the heart. In the months and years following the appearance of her 2015 EP Wildfire, she found much success licensing her music, especially for television. Taylor’s regret-steeped breakup ballad “Surrender” took on a life of its own at the end of the decade, garnering millions of streams following its inclusion in multiple series and viral social media posts.
An Alabama native, Taylor grew up in Birmingham listening to a mix of country and R&B, and she began singing the songs of Patty Griffin and Mariah Carey, among others, as a grade schooler. She later studied music at Vanderbilt University, and in 2014, her cover of Sam Smith and Disclosure’s “Latch” was included on an episode of the CW series Beauty & the Beast. She issued the Wildfire EP independently in 2015, the same year she released the stand-alone song “Surrender.” Over the next several years, “Surrender” and some of her other songs received placements in advertisements and on television shows including Criminal Minds (CBS), Catfish (MTV), and Pretty Little Liars (Freeform), just to name a few. “Surrender” eventually went viral thanks to some key TV and social media appearances; it was reissued by Columbia in late 2019. ~ Marcy Donelson
