About this artist

Portuguese-born, Munich-based DJ and musician Luis Clara Gomes began producing neo-disco and house tracks under the name Moulinex (after the French appliance manufacturer) in 2007. His productions featured warm, easygoing dance beats, sunny guitars, and synthesizer melodies reminiscent of ’80s disco and ’90s French house. Gomes co-founded the Discotexas label with fellow producer Xinobi, releasing dance tracks by a variety of primarily Lisbon-based artists. Gomes changed the spelling of his moniker to Moullinex in 2009 upon signing to Gomma. He quickly became an in-demand remixer, providing club reworks for a variety of electronic and dance-leaning indie rock acts such as Two Door Cinema Club, In Flagranti, and Sébastien Tellier, on labels such as Kitsuné, Modular, and Compost. A string of Moullinex EPs appeared on Discotexas and Gomma, and full-length debut Flora arrived in 2012, featuring Peaches guesting on a cover of Michael Sembello’s hit “Maniac.” New singles and EPs continued, including “Deja Vu” on Nurvous Records and “To Be Clear” on Discotexas. Sophomore full-length Elsewhere, which found the producer handling all the vocal chores and branching out into soft rock and power pop-influenced territory, landed on Discotexas in May of 2015. Following collaborations with Best Youth and Lorenz Rhode, third Moullinex full-length Hypersex arrived in 2017, featuring funk-influenced tunes such as “Love Love Love” and “Work It Out.” ~ Paul Simpson
