Singer/rapper Micro TDH combines elements of trap, rap, jazz, R&B, and Latin music into his uplifting, soul-inflected songs. After releasing his full-length debut, 18/04, in 2016, he was named Best New Artist at Venezuela’s Union Rock Show Awards. He found international stardom with 2018′s “Te Vi,” a collaboration with Piso 21 that garnered hundreds of millions of streams worldwide. His third album, 2021′s NUEVE, found him collaborating with the likes of Pablo Alborán, Myke Towers, and Yandel.
Born in Caracas and raised in Mérida, Venezuela, Fernando Daniel Morillo Rivas became involved with music and broadcasting quite young, appearing in advertisements and on radio shows from the age of four. He started freestyle rapping in Mérida (first as MC Microbio) when he was 11. Eventually changing his handle to MC Micro, he became Micro TDH after partnering with The Dog House label. He contributed to The Dog House Mixtape, Vol. 1 in 2014. His own Sin Coro mixtape was released the following year.
2016 proved to be a breakout year for the singer, songwriter, and rapper. He teamed up with Delirio for the Delirios del Mic EP early that year, with the album 18/04 arriving in April. It featured appearances from JForce TDH and King Roker, among others, and introduced Micro TDH’s yearning, soul-styled vocals alongside raps. He followed up with the EP Conexión in September 2016. To finish the year, Micro TDH was crowned Best New Artist at the Union Rock Show Awards and signed on to work with Los Vatos Inc.’s Neutro Shorty, who helped expand and refine his sound. Micro TDH went on to issue the long-player Inefable in mid-2017, with the EP Frio appearing at the end of the year. He then signed with Big Ligas (Warner Music Latina) and recorded a batch of songs in Medellín, Colombia.
In 2018, “Te Vi,” which the singer recorded with the Colombian pop band Piso 21, was an international hit; the song peaked at number 18 on Argentina’s Hot 100, hit the Top Ten of the Billboard Mexican airplay chart, and reached the Top 30 of Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. The next year’s “Demasiado Tarde,” a duet with Lenny Tavárez, returned Micro TDH to the Argentinian Hot 100. Tracks including “Dime Cuantas Veces” (with Rels B) and “Amor de Red Social” followed on Big Ligas in 2020. In addition to the Lasso collaboration “Me Arruinaste Netflix,” Micro TDH delivered his third album, NUEVE, in late 2021. It included appearances by Lasso, Pablo Alborán, and more. ~ Marcy Donelson
