The collaborative team of three Italian producers collectively known as Meduza combines smooth vocal hooks with a melodic house backbone. The trio had a massive hit with their 2019 single “Piece of Your Heart,” which was streamed hundreds of millions of times as they became more recognized on the EDM festival circuit. They followed their signature song with subsequent hits like 2022′s “Bad Memories” and 2023′s “Pegasus.” Their self-titled debut album arrived in 2023. They collaborated with OneRepublic and Leony for “Fire,” the official song of the 2024 European Football Championship. Before they were called Meduza, Luke Degree (aka Luca de Gregorio), Matt Madwill (aka Mattia Vitale), and Simon de Jano (aka Simone Giani) began working together as a production team around 2014. The friends were all active as DJs, electronic musicians, and producers and joined forces to make rap instrumentals and collaborate on various tracks. After a few years of casual work, they settled on a house-influenced sound and began working on new music in that style as Meduza in 2018. Their first song, “Piece of Your Heart,” found them teaming up with British producers Goodboys for a hypnotic, sultry tune that quickly made its way to clubs around the world. The song, released in February of 2019, was a massive hit. It was eventually streamed hundreds of millions of times and catapulted Meduza into the limelight. The trio spent the year producing remixes for Dido and Emily Warren before returning with their second original track, “Lose Control,” in October of 2019. The song again featured work from Goodboys, but this time lead vocals were handled by Becky Hill. Another song, “Paradise” featuring Dermot Kennedy, arrived in October 2020. The standard string of remixes of the track followed, and in 2021, the band issued the four-song compilation EP Introducing Meduza. 2021 also brought the tracks “Headrush” (featuring Elroii) and “Tell It to My Heart” (featuring Hozier). Their 2022 single “Bad Memories” was streamed over 100 million times and was followed with the tracks “Under Pressure” and “Just a Feeling.” In February of 2023, Meduza released “Pegasus,” which featured guest contributions from London house duo Eli & Fur. Meduza, a full-length featuring several previously issued singles as well as additional tracks with artists like Poppy Baskcomb and Em Beihold, appeared in October 2023. “Musica” and “I Got Nothing” (with Ferreck Dawn and Clementine Douglas) both followed. In 2024, Meduza released singles with Varun Jain (“Dola re Dola”) and Alec Monopoly (“Money [Can’t Save Us]“). They also teamed up with OneRepublic and Leony for “Fire (Official UEFA EURO 2024 Song).” ~ Fred Thomas
