Masaki Sakamoto is from Utsunomiya, a city 60 miles north-east from Tokyo, Japan. He was born on 7th January 1972. Started playing the piano at the age of three. Graduated Hamamatsu university of medicine in 1996, and then started working as a neurologist, and also as a pianist in Tokyo. He supported to play the keyboards and the talking modulator in a CD titled "Ikiru" by the rap unit "TEKO" which was released in 2000. Besides his outstanding performance in the field of jazz, he qualified as a specialist for neurology.
Sakamoto formed a jazz unit "Vertige" with Mikiharu Takagi and the other musicians(Takayuki Kato et. al), then started flexible live performance and some recordings. He presented the title tune in the CD "dekiai-blind love"(ACRC-001) which was released in 2002 on one hand. On the other hand, hard edge jazz was also recorded by "Vertige".
Recently, Sakamoto formed a club music unit "Manic State Chameleon", and performed in an eve of the festival "Tokyo JAZZ 2002". The performance was broadcasted on TV "NHK", which is the national broadcast station in Japan.
In 2003, his remix track "A point RE:view MIX" was released on "PM" (Cornelius "Point" remixies). And in 2004, his brand-new remix "The Landsong Re-Landing" and a brand-new track "Polka Dots & Sl@yremoonbeams" by a brand-new unit called "SL@yRe & The Feminine StoolƒÌ" with Kawatory who also presented a great track "Kawatolius remix" on "PM" will be released on the compilation CD titled "DOCUMENTO -RADIO SAKAMOTO-", produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto. (Also including Kawatory's brand-new track "Kawatory"!)
He is continuing his career in the field of music, and also as a neurologist specializing in brain, both in research and clinical practice.
