About this artist

Influenced by classic soul, rock, disco, and acid house, London-based producer and DJ Marcus Marr makes spacy, starry dance music, often including percolating synths, funky bass guitar, and vocals. His first release was the 2010 single “Well Alright.” Around the same time, he sang on Toby Tobias’ You Know EP, and remixed songs by Bottin and Shit Robot. DFA released Marr’s “The Music” in 2013, and the single received acclaim, particularly from Spin, which named it one of the best dance tracks of the year. Following Marr’s remix of Röyksopp and Robyn’s “Monument Dance,” released in 2014, DFA issued Marr’s “Brown Sauce” in early 2015, earning further acclaim. Marr then collaborated with Chet Faker (Nick Murphy) on a four-song EP titled Work, which yielded two hit singles, “Birthday Card” and “The Trouble with Us.” Marr’s solo single “Rocketship” was released by DFA in 2016. The track later appeared on Familiar Five, Marr’s first EP for the label, which was released in 2018. ~ Paul Simpson
