Electro duo L.A. Riots emerged in 2007 with a succession of remixes and within a year’s time became an MP3 blogosphere sensation, reworking tracks by such fashionable artists as Justice, Chromeo, and Hot Chip. Comprised of DJ/producers Daniel LeDisko and Jo’B, the duo first made a name for itself in 2007 with remixes including the Mystery Jets’ “Diamonds in the Dark,” the Scanners’ “Lowlife,” Justice’s “The Party” (featuring Uffie), and Chromeo’s “Bonafide Lovin’.” The blog buzz continued in 2008 with additional remixes including Photek’s “Love and War,” Hot Chip’s “Ready for the Floor,” and Justice’s “DVNO”; plus, their remix of Weezer’s “Automatic” was licensed for the soundtrack of the Sony Playstation game Gran Turismo 5. Besides all of this remix work, L.A. Riots toured internationally as a well-regarded DJ tandem and joined the roster of A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold label. ~ Jason Birchmeier
