このアーティストについて

Kenyon Dixon is a name known to a crowd of serious R&B listeners that includes fans of Tyrese, Marsha Ambrosius, and Alex Isley, a small fraction of the artists with whom the singer and songwriter has collaborated or supported on tour. Active since the early 2010s as a writer, background vocalist, and lead artist, Dixon has cultivated an independent solo discography of deep contemporary R&B that includes the full-lengths Higher Ground (2015), Expectations (2021), and Closer (2022), among numerous EPs and singles.
Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, specifically the neighborhood of Watts, Dixon grew up in a devoutly religious household that forbade secular music, though his parents were involved in the church as musicians. Deeply involved as a youngster in dance and musical theater, Dixon eventually got into singing, writing, and producing R&B. He established himself during the first half of the 2010s by writing material for Tyrese and that singer’s TGT project with Ginuwine and Tank, such as the single “Sex Never Felt Better.” Dixon released his 2014 EP Twenty Four between TGT’s Three Kings and Tyrese’s Black Rose, and in 2015 followed up with Higher Ground, a full-length featuring Alex Isley on two songs.
By the end of the 2010s, Dixon added We Should Talk, Niggas Get Emotional Too, and R&B Kenny to his catalog, and had done background work for the likes of Kirk Franklin, Pharrell Williams, Usher, Jill Scott, and Nick Jonas. He also sang with Justin Timberlake, which led to his co-writing of “Perfect for Me” for the Trolls World Tour soundtrack. Dixon’s solo activity continued in 2021 with Expectations, on which he was joined by Isley, Avery Wilson, and Re'Lxuise. He then connected with Gwen Bunn, D Smoke, Tiffany Gouché, and Susan Carol in the making of his 2022 follow-up Closer, a set that stressed emotional intimacy. ~ Andy Kellman
