Kenny Mason

About this artist

Kenny Mason is a versatile rapper and producer whose introspective, autobiographical lyrics detail his upbringing on the streets of Atlanta and his drive for success. Sporting a variety of flows, from aggressive rhyming to more melodic sing-rapping, his production is equally diverse, from the woozy, nearly chillwave-like beats of his earliest singles to the punk- and alternative rock-influenced songs on his 2020 full-length Angelic Hoodrat and 2022 mixtape Ruffs.
Mason names Lil Wayne and Kid Cudi as two primary inspirations who motivated him to rap as an adolescent, additionally counting alternative bands such as Pixies and the Smashing Pumpkins as influences. He drew from all of these artists on his earliest tracks, including “4Real” and “22,” which quickly attracted attention when he first uploaded them in 2017. Following 2018′s “Nike 2” and 2019′s “G.O.A.T,” he broke out with “Hit,” which received millions of streams within months. His debut full-length, Angelic Hoodrat, appeared in April 2020, demonstrating his range of influences including punk, trap, and R&B. He was then featured on the single “Cereal” by IDK and JID. The EP Pup Pack and mixtape Ruffs both arrived in 2022. ~ Paul Simpson
