About this artist

A highly motivated rapper, singer, and producer from Compton, Kalan.FrFr uses his music to celebrate life and explore the depths of heartache. Shortly after the release of his TwoFr 2 project in 2021, Kalan.FrFr signed on with Roc Nation Records, upping his profile on a worldwide level. An expanded edition of TwoFr 2 was quickly released, featuring new appearances from Lil Durk, 1TakeJay, and others, adding to a guest list that also featured notable talents like Mozzy and Stunna 4 Vegas. A second Roc Nation full-length, 222, arrived in 2022, anchored by smooth, romantic anthems like “Light Breeze” and “No Stoppin’” with Blxst.
Born in Carson, California, and raised in nearby Compton, Kalan Montgomery started making beats and rapping during his teens. After he graduated from high school, he attended San Diego State University on a football scholarship. By the end of 2016, the year he finished school, he self-released tracks such as “Bandz” and the Rich the Kid collaboration “21.” “Fine Ass,” originally issued in 2017, became his most popular song yet in 2018, a pivotal year during which Kalan also offered the Hurt EP, based on a breakup, and the First Class Entertainment release TwoFr, which included “Fine Ass” and an even bigger track, “Right wit It,” featuring G Perico and Chris O'Bannon. Kalan proved to be just as prolific during 2019 and 2020. The full-length Leak the Tape and another EP, The Score, arrived during this period, as did a number of guest verses and additional stray tracks, including a remix of “Right wit It” with YG.
TwoFr 2 arrived in early 2021 and included cuts like “Scoring” and the Stunna 4 Vegas collaboration “Get In.” Kalan signed on with Roc Nation Records shortly after the release of the project, issuing an expanded version and receiving upwards of 100 million streams worldwide. To close out his breakout year, he embarked on the TwoFr Tour, bringing along surprise guests that included Blxst, 1TakeJay, Rubi Rose, 808 Mafia, and more.
2022 also saw Kalan releasing multiple new tracks, including the melodic and hook-heavy “No Stoppin” (with Blxst) and the feel-good summer anthem “Light Breeze,” both of which were included on his 2022 full-length, 222. He also embarked on his seven-city Never Lose You Tour that year, before hitting the road again in 2023 as support on YG’s Red Cup Tour. ~ Andy Kellman
