Panamanian Reggae singer, born in 1979 and raised in Pilón (Rio Alejandro), outside Colon, Panama. He decided to call himself Kafu Banton after a Brazilian football player named Cafu. Also, he borrowed his last name from one of the world’s biggest Reggae artists, and his inspiration, Buju Banton. He later met one of the greatest national Reggae singers, Ernesto Brown, best known as Ness. Ness introduced the world to Spanish Reggae, and Kafu followed Ness’ lead. His first single was “Mad Man”, produced by Rodney Clark “El Chombo” and he participated in other productions, contributing to "Cuentos De La Cripta" Vol. 2 & Vol. 3 compilations, which captured the attention of the public. By the time Reggae was at its greatest in Panama, Kafu, along with other known artists of this generation, joined the rebirth of One Love, a group formed by Ness y Los Sensacionales, also featuring Calito Soul and Papa Chan.
