About this artist

South Korean singer and dancer Park Ji-min — known simply as Jimin — found international success in the late 2010s and early 2020s as part of K-pop sensation BTS. Like his bandmates, he had showcase moments on BTS albums and released solo tracks on the side. After the group paused official activities in 2022, Jimin joined Big Bang’s Taeyang on 2023′s “Vibe,” which earned the vocalist his first solo placement on the U.S. charts. His own solo debut, Face, arrived that March.
Park was born in Busan in 1995, auditioning for Big Hit Entertainment in 2012. He debuted a year later as a member of BTS, his distinctive vocals becoming an immediately recognizable part of the band’s sound. Together with his six groupmates, he topped charts around the world as the band became an international phenomenon. Jimin performed a trio of solo tracks on BTS releases: “Lie” (Wings), “Serendipity” (Love Yourself: Her/Love Yourself: Answer), and “Filter” (Map of the Soul: 7). Additional solo work included 2014′s “Christmas Day” and a 2017 cover of Charlie Puth’s “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” both with Jungkook; the 2018 pop ballad “Promise”; 2020′s “Christmas Love”; and 2022′s Ha Sung-woon duet “With You” from the Korean drama Our Blues.
In early 2023, he landed his first solo spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Vibe,” a duet with Big Bang’s Taeyang. In addition to singing on the track, Jimin also served as co-writer. The song went on to chart in the Top Ten across Asia. That March, he released his first official solo EP, Face. In addition to lead single “Like Crazy,” the set also featured co-writing by RM on a trio of tracks. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
