Berlin-based, Danish electronic music producer, DJ, singer, audio engineer and manager of self-conceived record label Collage Audio. Not long after Jacob Phono, also known as PhonoKemi, launched his diverse yet discernible musical orbit through the worldwide music scene, many of his productions levitated among the Top 10 most sold on Beatports Minimal and Techhouse charts, with releases on numerous best-known European and intercontinental labels, such as Cocoon Recordings, Bedrock Records, Plastic City, Highgrade, Cityfox, Heinz Music, Audiomatique, Fantastic Friends Recordings, and Noir Music. His tracks captivated the attention
of many in the electronic scene, supported and played by acclaimed artists worldwide, amongst which were Richie Hawtin, John Digweed, Steve Bug, Magda, Finnebassen, Matthew Dear, Subb-an, Lulu Rouge and Anders Trentemoller. Additionally widely recognised for his ability to hypnotise the dance-floor with powerful DJ-sets, he steadily thrusted his beats though the most respected venues in Berlin (incl. Berghain/Panorama Bar, Club Der Visonaere, Tresor, Wilde Renate, Sisyphos, Golden Gate, Kater Blau, etc.), as well as circulating worldwide including cities like New York, Seattle, Cape Town, Russia (Moscow, Penza), Poland, Paris, Milan, Serbia, Copenhagen, The Netherlands, Belgium).
His sound is characterised by dynamic twists of polyrhythms, complex grooves and hypnotic soundscapes, blending into a mix of Romanian Minimal, Breakbeat and
low-fi Detroit Techno - sporadically supported with a melancholic edge of harmonic melodies and lyrically rich vocals.
Diligently devoted to continuously cultivate and challenge his musical expressions, Jacob continues to widen his creative scope by diligently delving into a multi-instrumental Live approach- a journey which during the past two years simultaneously resulted in a myriad of novel and varicoloured recordings, scheduled to see the light of day during the course of 2018.
