Based out of Atlanta’s Grace Midtown Church, Housefires are a worship collective with an organic and uplifting sound reminiscent of groups like All Sons & Daughters and United Pursuit. Since starting out in the mid-2010s, they have released numerous live albums, several of which — 2016′s Housefires III and 2019′s Housefires V — have hit the upper reaches of the Christian charts. 2023′s How to Start a Housefire, their seventh collection, came out in 2023.
Formed in 2014, Housefires are primarily led by Kirby Kaple (vocals), Tony Brown (vocals, guitar), and Nate Moore (vocals, guitar) with original member Pat Barrett contributing heavily to their early releases. Their self-titled debut album was issued the year that they were formed, followed in 2015 by Housefires II. The group hit their commercial stride on 2016′s Housefires III, which made the Top Ten on two U.S. charts and hit number two in the U.K. Following their fourth album, We Say Yes, Barrett left the group and began a solo career. Meanwhile, Kaple, Brown, and Moore kept up their prolific songwriting pace, managing a new release each year beginning with Housefires V (2019) the collaborative Housefires + Friends (Live) (2020), and Housefires VII (2021). The band kicked off 2023 with the January release of their seventh album, How to Start a Housefire. ~ Liam Martin
