The nom de plume of David Lee Crow, DJ, producer, and general EDM enthusiast Ghastly specializes in a heavy, provocative blend of house, trap, and dubstep that has earned the support of tastemakers like Skrillex, Diplo, and Steve Aoki. Heβs released several heavily streamed tracks and remixes, including collaborations with Mija & Lil Jon, Getter, and Matthew Koma, and his self-issued debut album, The Mystifying Oracle, appeared in 2018. Subsequent releases have included the metal-tinged singles βPsychoβ (with Moonboy, 2019) and βBlackoutβ (2021).
Raised on a goat farm in Arizona, Crow initially flirted with metal before finding his muse in the pulsating lights and soul-shaking bass of electronic dance music. After relocating to Venice Beach and living out of his van West Coast hobo style, Crow found work (as well as his stage name) as Bassrush Resident DJ at Exchange L.A., while also securing a bevy of singles on labels such as OWSLA, Buygore, Mad Decent, and Dim Mak, including βMiami Connectionβ with Jauz and βCrank Itβ with Mija & Lil Jon. In 2017, he followed up his successful remix of Zomboyβs βLights Outβ with his own composition, the dark and danceable βSpider Symphony,β and collaborations with NGHTMRE and Matthew Koma. The Mystifying Oracle, his self-released 2018 full-length, included appearances by Barely Alive and Crankdat. He continued releasing aggressive stompers like βThis Song Scares Peopleβ and 2019β²s βPsychoβ (with Moonboy), as well as more uplifting tracks like βI Have Ur Backβ and 2020β²s βHelp (with Karra). His 2021 output included the bombastic trap tune βThe OGβ and the aggressive dubstep of βBlackout.β ~ James Christopher Monger
