Memphis artist Fresco Trey intermingles vulnerable R&B with hard-hitting trap production for a sound that can be as introspective as it is feel-good. One of his songs having a viral moment on TikTok brought even more listeners to Trey’s unique blend of styles, and he released new material, like his 2022 EP Heartbreak Diaries 2 and singles like 2023′s “Back in My Shell,” with major label Warner Records.
Fresco Trey’s musical career began when his sister bought him some studio time as a birthday gift. Before that, Trey had aspirations to be a basketball player, but singles like 2019′s “By My Side” and 2021′s summery and melodic “Feel Good” quickly caught the attention of record labels, and he changed paths from sports to songs when he signed on with Warner Records. A remix of “Feel Good” featuring Lil Tjay generated even more attention for Trey, and some of his previously issued tracks were collected as 2021 EP Heartbreak Diaries to capitalize on this momentum. 2022 song “Need You” was viewed tens of millions of times on TikTok before the song was even officially released, creating even more buzz around Trey. Heartbreak Diaries 2 was released in 2022 and included a collaboration with Vory. From there, Trey continued releasing new stand-alone singles like 2022′s “Vegan” and 2023′s “Pull Up,” which featured guest artist Brezay. ~ TiVo Staff
