Freddy Salcedo was born in Valencia in 1945, his artistic life began in 1964, when he was part of dance ensembles as guitarist and first voice of the group, due to his quality as a vocalist, playing romantic music.

He was part of groups such as Yogui y sus Selectos, Combo Estelar, Lara Boy among others.
Later he was heard in a serenade by Felipe Pírela and Mr. Barrios who hired him to take him to Colombia, the land where he won the Sol de Oro festival, then he signed for the C.B.S. from Colombia and was also part of the Los Caribeños Orchestra of Mr. Modesto Merchán.

He ventured into Venezuelan music and Guanare became his adoptive land, the source of inspiration to be part of the Los Turpiales del Llano group. His first recording was made in the middle of the years 79-81, with the song "Vestida de Garza Blanca" whose authorship is by Pedro Felipe Sosa Caro.

He is known in the Creole artistic environment as “His Majesty El Llano” being one of the llaneros singers who with his voice and his compositions made a great daily contribution to the aggrandizement of Venezuelan musical culture.

Salcedo has a total of 19 recorded LPs. His artistic tours include: France, Argentina, and Colombia. Winner of 23 festivals including 5 international, one Golden Florentine, Honoris Causa in 1988.

He was awarded the Vicente Emilio Sojo prize in second class. Currently he is far from singing, but not from composition, nor from his work to continue sponsoring the new values ​​of Creole singing. Freddy Salcedo already has two surgical operations on the vocal cords, which prevents him from vocalizing.

In his voice, he has made famous compositions such as “La Fundadora”, one of his greatest record hits, by Joel Hernández, a composer of whom he has recorded numerous llaneras pieces.
