About this artist

Blackwood studied with Messiaen, Hindemith and Boulanger. He took a position at University of Chicago in 1958 and has received many awards and prizes. His career as a pianist is marked by a challenging repertoire that includes the second sonatas of Charles Ives and Boulez, as well as solo works by Schoenberg, Berg and Webern. His compositional work is complex, with chromatic, polyryhthmic textures. ~ Lynn Vought
