The aptly named Drowsy is the project of Finnish folk/electronic artist Mauri Haikenen. Inspired by such classic songwriters as Robert Wyatt, Syd Barrett, and Smog’s Bill Callahan, Haikenen incorporates subtle electronic touches into his languid, largely acoustic work. In 2001, he submitted a CD-R of his music to the eclectic U.K. indie imprint Fat Cat, who released Drowsy’s debut 7″ Careless Me at the end of the year. Drowsy also appeared on the Fat Cat compilation Branches and Routes in 2003; his debut album, Growing Green, arrived in spring 2005. ~ Heather Phares
