Not to be confused with the drag queen-turned-club hitmaker of the same name, Divine are the teen dream equivalent of Brandy. With just a stick or two of gooey bubblegum melting in their ballads and R&B songs -- not enough to make the mix ultrasweet, but enough of a sugary presence to give it youthful spunk and innocence -- Divine string together harmonies and bead them with slow, rolling bass on keyboard looms. What's more, they avoid pouty coquettishness and instead focus on the very novel idea of simply making solid music.
