South London R&B singer/rapper Deno Michael Mebrahitu (aka Deno) went from viral success to mainstream appeal with his smooth vocal style and willingness to collaborate.
Born September 23, 2002, Deno began uploading videos covering popular songs while he was attending school. His cover of Geko’s “Over and Under” went viral in 2016, drawing the attention of Stormzy, who invited him to guest on his debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer. Later the same year, he met AJ at an online video content seminar, sparking a creative partnership; together they released “Ride or Die” in 2017 and “London” in 2018. He ventured into the world of acting in 2018 with a small part in the short film Shiro’s Story, Pt. 3; while on set he met rapper Cadet, going on to collaborate with him on the track “Advice.” Early the following year, Cadet passed away in an accident, prompting Deno to release the track “First Days” in tribute. His debut EP, Eye to Eye, arrived in 2019. The album-length mixtape Boy Meets World, featuring the tracks “Lingo,” “Circles,” and “Drizzy,” followed in 2021. ~ Liam Martin
