About this artist

A hard-hitting American nu-metal troupe based out of Tempe, Arizona, DED was formed in 2016 out of the ashes of Southwest rockers Greeley Estates and Man Made Machine. Coming together shortly after the final Man Made Machine performance, the band coalesced around the talents of vocalist Joe Cotela, percussionist Matthew Reinhard, bassist Kyle Koelsch, and guitarist David Ludlow. In December 2016, the newly minted quartet issued the single “FMFY,” with a second single, “Anti-Everything,” arriving later that May. Mis-An-Thrope, the band’s debut long-player, was released two months later on Suretone Records. A two-track EP featuring the songs “A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)” and “Eyes Sewn Shut” appeared in 2020. Both songs were featured on the group’s sophomore effort, 2021′s Kevin Churko-produced School of Thought. Featuring a more refined, though no less uncompromising sound, the album marked the studio debut new guitarist Alex Adamick. ~ James Christopher Monger
