German composer and organist (Weißig near Königstein, 1677 – Dresden, 2 June 1733). He travelled through Paris and Italy buy was active primarily in Dresden. He achieved a high reputation during his lifetime, but only few of hiw works survive. The best-known of his compositions is the Minuet in G major which was previously (and still is incorrectly) attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach.
