About this artist

Chris Webby built a sizable fan base with mixtapes, took his party raps aboveground with There Goes the Neighborhood (2011), and nearly topped the R&B/hip-hop chart with Chemically Imbalanced (2014) prior to resuming a steady release schedule with mixtapes and uploads throughout the 2010s. The Connecticut native born Christopher Webster started rapping in the sixth grade and attracted some of his earliest fans several years later with performances at college parties. After getting kicked out of school, he entered the mixtape game with a series of giveaway releases that had listeners comparing him to Machine Gun Kelly and Mac Miller. Six official tapes were out by the time the There Goes the Neighborhood EP landed in 2011 on Homegrown Music. Two years later, Homegrown became the title of Webster’s eOne-distributed second EP. His debut album, Chemically Imbalanced, landed in 2014 and debuted at number two on Billboard’s R&B/hip-hop chart with appearances from Tech N9ne and Talib Kweli. A third EP, Jamo Neat, followed in 2015 with production from Sap. Webster returned to the mixtape format and also adapted to the rise of streaming with his one-track-at-a-time Webby Wednesday series, launched in 2017 and continued through 2018. ~ David Jeffries
