Capolow

Oakland rapper Capolow brought his Bay Area sound to the spotlight in the late 2010s, finding international success with singles like “Outta Sight” and “Drip.”
Born and raised in East Oakland, California, rapper Capolow grew up on the sounds of the South, favoring rappers like Boosie, the Hot Boyz, and Lil' Phat in his younger years. The rapper recorded his first songs alongside his older brother, a casual rapper himself, and received praise throughout his early teens for his skills on the mike. At just 14, he and his childhood friends formed the rap group Trill Youngins, which soon found local success with trap singles like 2014′s “Like Me” and 2015′s “I Look Fly.” While juggling legal issues with music and the early stages of fatherhood, Capo embarked on a solo career alongside his group work, releasing debut single “Ruthless” and EP Gutta Gutta Island in late 2017.
In 2018, the rapper began to find success on a national scale, stacking up millions of views with singles like “Highway Robbery” and “Vomit” as he began to expand on the Bay-influenced and trap-driven aspects of his sound. 2019 saw the release of the rapper’s first mixtape, Sandman, a concise portfolio of Capo’s brag-centric, Bay Area trap. 2020 was the rapper’s most productive year to date: In addition to releasing his sophomore mixtape Room 304, the Oakland musician teamed up with Kamaiyah for the collaborative tape Oakland Nights. ~ David Crone
