Burak Malçok

Burak Malçok began sharing his music on national and international platforms with the release of his debut album “Hidden Breath” in May 2016. Born in Ankara in 1987, Burak grew up in Finike-Antalya and has now been living in İstanbul since he studied at university there.

Burak graduated from Istanbul Technical University ( Music Theories) in 2010, and completed his master’s degree at the Yıldız Technical University in 2011 and at the Haliç University, Institute of Social Sciences in Turkish Classical Music in 2013. He has always aimed to take his performance of the precious Ney instrument further in the realm of music and, with the support of his education, he has made this album named “Hidden Breath”, sharing his music with the souls of many.

Burak still describes himself as an aspiring ney player. He deems himself privileged as he has had the opportunity to work with many Ney masters who respect the sacred features of this precious instrument and pass this tradition onto the younger generation. Burak has been performing as a Ney Player as well as a sound designer at many national and international festivals and organizations since 2007 both with Mercan Dede (Dj Arkın Allen), with whom he has had a music union for more than 10 years, and with established classical Ney performers. Festivals and organizations at which Burak has performed include; The International Gathering of the Ney Players organized in Turkey in UNESCO’s Mevlana Year, Sarajevo Jazz Festival, France Festival des Mondes Pluriels, 30.Festival de México, İstanbulive USA, Roots of Worldmusic Rudolstadt 2014, Holland Festival, Cappadox. Accompanied by different visuals and effects, and using the theme of love, the young artist has given several performances which are memorable both in the hearts and minds of those in attendance. Such organizations include the Vodafone Transformation Summit, Turk Telecom, Eskisehir International Glass Festival, etc.

Blending his Ney music with electronic music, Burak has also made his name known as a Ney performer and composer involved in the making of many movies, serials and stage projects.

Currently pursuing his academic career, Burak is calling out to the hearts of many with each of the unique songs in this album” Hidden Breath”.
