BHM Peezy has emerged as one of the most promising voices coming out of Atlanta’s independent rap scene, known for his witty punchlines - often adding levity and a poignant element to his verses. A true native of the city, Peezy grew up drawing inspiration from some of the most creative wordsmiths in the game from Atlanta and beyond.
In 2018, he scored a hit as a member of the group BHM with the release of “Bag,” a song that started as a local fan favorite before gaining a national audience. It went on to capture the attention of Roc Nation, which offered the group a short-lived deal through an Atlanta-based indie imprint. As the group slowly drifted apart during the pandemic, Peezy continued to grind it out. “Astronaut,” the song that would end up changing the trajectory of his career, managed to capture the difficulties he was going through at the time under the guise of a fun, mid-tempo bop. A year after its initial release, “Astronaut” went viral on TikTok. He took it upon himself to learn how best teach streaming and social media platform to better connect with future fans. The success of “Astronaut” was followed by two more viral hits: “Dogg” and “That Yo Body?” With three fan-selected hits on his hands, Peezy knew he was well on his way. The final spark to propel him to the next level came when Lil Baby caught wind of the song “Down On Me,” which featured a sample of Baby’s “That’s My Dog.”
While waiting for the national and global stage to become his for the taking, BHM Peezy has amassed an impressive discography that now comprises seven mixtapes released over the course of the past three years. His latest, 2023’s Barbaric, marks a shift in Peezy’s career. With this project, he was meticulous about putting together his most cohesive and complete project. As his digital and social footprint continues to grow, Peezy’s ultimate goal within his career isn’t even about his own success..
