While the global spotlight on Gqom has mostly featured Durban-born producers and DJ’s, Cape Town-based DJ Aux WoMdantso has been championing South Africa’s dancefloor ruling sound in his home city for the last several years. Quick becoming one of Cape Town’s busiest DJ’s, Aux WoMdantso has proved that his own take on the highly infectious sound is here to stay. Talking of DJ Aux WoMdantso’s influence, The New York based magazine The FADER wrote: “The young DJ has since served as gqom's local ambassador, building a thriving local party scene from pretty much nothing and stacking up tape after tape of locally beloved mixes.”

Through his consistent series of online mixes which have captivated the country, residencies at the prestigious Rands Khayelitsha and his own monthly parties at GQ lounge, Aux WoMdantso recently caught the attention of Boiler Room. Chosen as one of four artists to feature in a recent Ballantine’s x Boiler Room documentary, Aux was quoted saying: “if you want something done, do it yourself."

Through his DIY mentality Aux Womdantso has built an online following of 9000+ on Facebook, and an incredibly loyal local fan base in Cape Town. Since Aux WoMdantso began DJ’ing, he has performed alongside some of SA’s biggest acts such as Riky Rick, DistructionBoys, Black Motion, Frank Casino, DJ Sox, Rudeboyzand K.O. He has played both Red Bull Campus Tour and Red Bull Corner 2 Corner tour, played shows on radio stations like Bush Radio, Metro and 5FM and most recently performed his first Boiler Room.

Aux WoMdantso is currently making bold moves into producing his own music and releasing collaborative tracks. His first single “Shona Phantsi” was play listed on Trace TV, and his upcoming collaborative compilation is set to be released in mid-2018.
